Table Rock fire fully contained

The Table Rock wildfire in Linville Gorge is completely contained, the U.S. Forest Service announced Wednesday morning.

Recent precipitation helped suppress the fire, which started Nov. 12 and burned approximately 2,579 acres, according to fire managers.

The gorge and its trails are open to the public. Visitors should use caution when in the gorge as there may be hazard trees or other conditions that pose safety risks.

Forest Service personnel will soon begin any rehabilitation efforts needed in the area.

Law enforcement officials continue to seek a person of interest who may have information related to the cause of the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The gorge is part of the Grandfather Ranger District in the Pisgah National Forest.
