Snow causes wreck in Blowing Rock

Anita Myers Baker, 50, was traveling on U.S. 321 just past Tanger Outlets in Blowing Rock around 7:45 a.m. when she lost control in snowy, slushy conditions and ran off the road to the right, said Trooper D.R. Alexander of the N.C. Highway Patrol.
The 2000 Toyota 4Runner ran up the bank and overturned onto its top, he said.
Baker was taken to Watauga Medical Center suffering chest
pain after hitting the steering wheel, Alexander said. The air bag did not deploy in the crash.
She was cited for exceeding safe speed and failure to maintain lane control.
Alexander said around 10 a.m. Friday that it was the only wreck the Highway Patrol had responded to so far in Watauga County.
“I hope that’s how it stays,” he said.
