Six arrested after vehicle hits house
According to police, 31-year-old Wilbert Emanuel Hendricks Jr. of Jefferson Highway, Boone, was driving when he lost control and crashed into the living room of a home on Forest Hills Drive just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
The wreck caused an estimated $105,000 in damage to the house, while sending the occupant to Watauga Medical Center, police said.
In addition to Boone police, firefighters and Watauga Medics, officials from the Boone Department of Planning & Inspections responded due to the significant structural damage caused to the home.
Two other vehicles were also damaged.
Hendricks was charged with driving while impaired, reckless driving to endanger, felony injury by vehicle, property damage, possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle, failure to maintain lane control and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, police said.
He was issued a $50,000 secured bond.
Police also arrested three people for failure to remain at the scene of an accident: Jeremy Dwayne Scott, 21, of Poplar Grove Road, Boone; Dillan Emmett Scott, 17, of Poplar Grove Road, Boone; and Tegan Nicole Ray, 20, of Margo Road, Boone.
Ray and Dillan Scott were issued $750 secured bonds. Jeremy Scott was also charged with failure to appear in court and was issued a $2,250 secured bond.
Police also charged Coral Raine Parker, 20, of Forest Hills Drive, Boone, and Laurie Lee Shook, 41, of Forest Hills Drive, Boone, with resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer.
Parker was issued a $750 secured bond, while Shook was released with a written promise to appear in court.
All are expected to appear in court Nov. 19.
