Silent auction set for Mast family

by Staff Reports

Chetola Resort, in conjunction with the Blowing Rock and Boone Area Chambers of Commerce, will hold a silent auction Aug. 8 to support the family of Deputy William Mast Jr.

Mast was killed Thursday while responding to a 911 call. He leaves behind a wife, Paige, and a son due in August, to be named William Hunter Mast, along with other family in the area.

"We in the business community need to rally around the wife of our fallen hero," said Greg Tarbutton, a partner in Chetola Resort. "This is our opportunity to show our law enforcement community and the Mast family that they are not out there alone."

The silent auction is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Blowing Rock Fire Department on U.S. 321 in Blowing Rock.

Any business interesting in donating goods, services or gift certificates for the auction must deliver them to the Blowing Rock or Boone Area Chamber offices by 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 7.

The Boone Area Chamber is located at 870 W. King St., Suite A, Boone (adjacent to the courthouse). The Blowing Rock Chamber is located at 132 Park Ave., Blowing Rock.
