by Kellen Moore
Sen. Kay Hagan visited Boone on Wednesday as part of her
"Conversations with Kay" statewide tour.
The day began at the Lois E. Harrill Senior Center, where Hagan and her staff talked with residents about the residents' concerns.
Hagan said many of the questions she has encountered during her tour relate to jobs, gas prices and health care.
"They want government to work for them," she said.
She also explored several businesses in downtown Boone, including Art of Oil, Farm Cafe, Doe Ridge Pottery, Hands Gallery and Mast General Store.
Hagan also was scheduled to meet with students at Appalachian State University and with regional community leaders on Wednesday, according to her staff.
