School board to discuss 2013-14 budget
by Kellen Moore
At the meeting, individual schools and departments will present their funding requests for consideration by the board. After receiving the requests, the budget committee will meet at a future date to begin digesting the information and determining priorities, said finance director Ly Marze.
Marze said she would like to offer a draft budget to the board in April, either at its regular meeting or a special called meeting, before presenting the budget to the county in May.
Aside from salaries, which account for most of the budget, "curriculum and instruction will be a big thing, technology will be a big thing, and facilities," Marze said.
The board will meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Margaret E. Gragg Education Center on Pioneer Trail, and the meeting is expected to end at 4:30 p.m.
