School board plans retreat
The Watauga County Board of Education will hold a "retreat" June 14 to discuss an array of programs and issues in the school system, the board announced Friday.
The session will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 14 in room 124A of the College of Education Building at Appalachian State University.
Interim Superintendent David Fonseca said in April that the retreat could tackle any topic "from instruction to construction" and that it would serve as an opportunity for board members to share their expectations for staff and make strategic decisions. The board also may discuss revising policies that haven't been reviewed in many years.
"I think it's worth having that conversation," Fonseca said.
