School board holds second closed meeting
"We’re still dealing with the situation, but we can’t discuss it," Chairman Lee Warren said Wednesday.
The meeting had been continued from another closed-door meeting Jan. 31, called to discuss personnel. The school system has been inundated with concerns recently after at least two recent claims made by community members against Superintendent David Kafitz. Both accused Kafitz of rude, brash actions during conflicts at Mellow Mushroom pizza restaurant and at Green Valley School.
Tuesday's board meeting lasted about two hours before adjourning and included all five board members, board attorney Paul Miller and Asheville attorney Chris Campbell, Warren said. Kafitz and other school staff were not present, he said.
The board's next regularly scheduled meeting is set for 7 p.m. Monday. The meeting agenda has not yet been released, and Warren said he could not comment on whether personnel would be a topic of discussion again.
