SBI investigating ASU employee purchases

The N.C. State Bureau of Investigation has an ongoing investigation involving purchases made by an Appalachian State University employee, confirmed Noelle Talley, a public information officer with the N.C. Department of Justice.
"When the investigation is complete, SBI agents will share their findings with the district attorney," Talley said.
The investigation is tied to an incident reported March 30, 2012, to the ASU University Police Department.
According to the incident report, unauthorized purchases were allegedly made on an ASU credit card. The location of the incident is listed as Wey Hall.
According to university spokesman Hank Foreman, no arrests have been made in the case, and the employee in question no longer works at ASU.
Talley said the SBI generally investigates cases at the request of local law enforcement and district attorneys.
The SBI also has original jurisdiction in certain matters, including theft and misuse of state property.
