Rite Aid robbed of meds
The suspect entered the store and presented a note that demanded prescription drugs, according to police. He said in the note that he had a gun, but no weapon was shown, said Sgt. Shane Robbins. The drugs taken were controlled substances with a high potential for abuse, he said.
The man left the store on foot traveling toward Harris Teeter.
Three people were handcuffed in the parking lot outside the store because one of them matched the initial description of the suspect, Robbins said. They were released after police determined they were not involved.
The suspect is described as a white man about six feet tall with a medium or large build, according to Boone Police Department. The man has "bushy, dark eyebrows," a black toboggan, gray hooded sweatshirt, black jacket and black bandana, according to Boone Police Department.
The suspect may be armed.
