Red Cross names new director

Red Cross Heart of Carolina Region announced on Wednesday that Cindy Jones is
the new American Red Cross executive director for the Blue Ridge Chapter. Her
first day as executive director was Jan. 21.
serves Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Watauga and Wilkes counties in North Carolina
and will work out of the Boone office.
"Born and raised in the Boone area," Jones said she is very happy to be living in the area that she loves and to be working for the American Red Cross.
"I'm absolutely proud of the the work the Red Cross has done," She said. "I'm very excited to be apart of this great organization."
Jones has a bachelor's degree from
N.C. State University and a master's degree in higher education administration
from Appalachian State University. She also has an extensive background in
Jones was most recently the executive director for the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys. Before that, she was the deputy vice president of development and director of development operations for Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids in Washington, D.C.
"We are delighted to have Cindy join the Red Cross. Her experience in management, fundraising and community relations will make her a wonderful addition to our team," Regional Chief Executive Officer for the Red Cross John Hughes said.
