Pedestrian hit near Holmes Center

A 23-year-old man was taken to the hospital -- then later ticketed -- after being hit by a car near the Holmes Center on Monday.
Nathaniel David Harper of Boone was crossing in a non-designated area when he was hit by a 2010 Mini Cooper driven by 20-year-old Jessica Nicole Berkowitz of Charlotte, according to the police report.
Harper was taken to Watauga Medical Center after the 12:45 p.m. accident, and the extent of his injuries was unknown.
Police cited Harper for failure to yield to traffic, according to the report.
