En route to Millers Creek Monday on his American Jobs Act Bus Tour, President Barack Obama makes a stop, unannounced to media, in downtown Boone to visit with people near Mast General Store. Hundreds of people filled the downtown arena to greet the president. Obama was scheduled to speak at West Wilkes High during a ticketed event at 4:50 p.m. Unlike Obama, when President Gerald Ford visited West Wilkes High during a campaign stop, he arrived in a helicopter.
