November school board meeting changes
by Kellen Moore
The Watauga County Board of Education will deviate from its normal meeting schedule in November, meeting today, Nov. 5, instead of Nov. 12.
The change was necessitated due to the N.C. School Boards Association annual conference, which runs from Nov. 12-14 in Greensboro and will involve members of the local Board of Education.
Monday’s relatively short agenda includes public recognition and personnel action, a budget amendment, facilities update and report on the schools’ annual energy conservation.
The board also will discuss a recent examination of the cafeteria operations at Watauga High School by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction as well as an update on the WHS Assessment Services Center.
The board also will meet in closed session and plans to discuss the agenda for the upcoming School Boards Association conference.
A full agenda is available online at watauga.k12.nc.us by clicking on the “WCS District” tab and then “Board of Education.”
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Margaret E. Gragg Education Center on Pioneer Trail.
