Narcotics search yields meth, marijuana, moonshine

Three people were arrested Thursday after a search of their Longhope Road home found marijuana, methamphetamine and moonshine, the Watauga County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday.

Narcotics detectives searched the house at 2114 Longhope Road in Todd after observing drug activity, the sheriff's office said.

They seized plastic bags with marijuana, two marijuana plants, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a moonshine still, according to detectives.

Police arrested Martin Dwayne Miller, 33; Michael Ray Rash, 28; and Laurel Allison West, 27. The three were charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, manufacturing non-tax-paid liquor, possession of liquor equipment and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff's office.
 
Authorities also found a gun inside the home and charged Miller with possession of a firearm by a felon.

Miller was issued a $21,000 secured bond, while Rash and West were issued $16,000 secured bonds. Rash has been released. All three are scheduled to appear in court Oct. 31.
