Motorcyclist killed in Zionville wreck

A motorcyclist was killed Sunday evening in a wreck on Old U.S.
421 in Zionville.
Christopher Thomas Higgins, 51, of 5777 Old U.S. 421, was passing another motorcycle left of the center line on Old U.S. 421 when he lost control, traveled off the left side of the road into a ditch and struck a culvert, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Higgins was ejected from the motorcycle, which overturned several times.
Medics transported Higgins to Watauga Medical Center after the 5 p.m. accident, but efforts to save him were unsuccessful.
