McCrory to give 'State of the State'
The speech begins at 7 p.m. at the House of Representatives chamber in Raleigh.
The governor typically delivers a State of the State address in odd-numbered years as the legislature starts its two-year session. Governors often use the opportunity to describe goals and objectives.
McCrory has had a busy first five weeks in office. He has selected his cabinet and made other appointments, pledged to prevent the expansion of Medicaid as part of the federal health-care law and has looked to increase offshore oil and gas exploration.
Last week, he requested a disaster declaration for Watauga County that could help victims of the Jan. 30 flood receive low-interest loans.
