McCrory to be sworn in Saturday
by Kellen Moore
Gov.-elect Pat McCrory will be sworn in as North Carolina's 74th governor in a small ceremony Saturday at the State Capitol.
A week of galas and open houses will follow as the former Charlotte mayor
officially begins his four-year term.
Those events include an open house at the governor's western residence in Asheville at 5 p.m. Jan. 7 and the Inaugural Ball on Jan. 11 at the Raleigh Convention Center.
The activity continues with a parade in downtown Raleigh on Jan. 12, McCrory's inaugural speech, an open house at the Executive Mansion and a celebration at the mansion that evening.
The swearing-in ceremony for McCrory begins at noon Jan. 5 and will be live-streamed online at new.livestream.com/accounts/2164066/events/1751201.
McCrory was elected to the position in November after securing 54.6 percent of the vote.
Meanwhile, McCrory's right-hand man, Lt. Gov. Dan Forest, started in November by meeting with advisers and visiting his new office.
