Man suffers minor injuries in 105 crash

A man suffered minor injuries after hitting an embankment off of
N.C. 105 South in the Foscoe community this morning.
Hubert Shook, 79, of Banner Elk was driving a white Izuzu pickup truck that veered off of the highway in the 10000 block and struck a small embankment about 15 feet from the roadway around 7 a.m. Monday, according to Trooper R.S. Townsend of the State Highway Patrol.
Shook said he was temporarily blinded by the headlights of an oncoming vehicle. Watauga Medics and Foscoe Fire Department also responded to the call.
Shook suffered minor injuries to his chest and abdomen, said Craig Sullivan of Watauga Medics. Townsend said Shook was released from Watauga Medical Center later Monday morning.
Emergency crews blocked one lane of traffic on N.C. 105 for about an hour while clearing the scene Monday morning.
