Man critically injured in wreck
Lowell Miller, 66, of 321 George Moretz Lane, was driving north by himself on N.C. 194 just past Castle Ford Road when the accident occurred, according to Trooper Michael Goldsmith of the N.C. Highway Patrol.
For an unknown reason, the 2012 Honda SUV veered off the road to the right, hit a tree and overturned onto its driver's side, Goldsmith said.
Rescuers spent nearly an hour cutting Miller out of the vehicle, he said.
The man suffered severe injuries to both legs and was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center in Tennessee from a landing zone at Hardin Park School, Goldsmith said.
Miller was still listed in critical condition Tuesday morning, according to hospital spokeswoman Teresa Hicks.
