Man airlifted after logging accident

A man was airlifted from Mabel School on Tuesday after suffering injuries when a tree limb fell on him in Zionville.

Responders were called to an area near Mabel School Road and Silverstone Road at about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday to help the victim, who was working in the area with others when the accident occurred.

The 58-year-old man was at ground level when a limb fell onto his chest, said Craig Sullivan, director of Watauga Medics.

Wings Air Rescue landed at Mabel School to transport the injured man to Johnson City Medical Center in Tennessee.

His identity and condition had not been released as of Tuesday afternoon.
