Maine native arrested on theft charges

A
Maine native is in custody on two theft charges and three counts of fraud after
he allegedly stole and used credit cards.
The
Boone Police Department charged Shane Wesley Sapiel, 29, with two counts of
felony financial transaction card theft and three counts of misdemeanor
financial transaction card fraud on Thursday.
The cards were reported stolen from a residence and then used at various Boone businesses. Sapiel was already in custody at the Watauga County Detention Center as a result of a Jan. 26 arrest warrant.
He
is scheduled to appear in district court on March 11 in lieu of a $5,000
secured bond.
Sapiel
is scheduled to appear in district court on March 18 on charges of felony
possession with intent to manufacture, sell and/or deliver a schedule IV
controlled substance, misdemeanor breaking and entering and second degree
trespassing.
Additional charges to be heard on March 11 include possession of
drug paraphernalia, a brake light violation and driving without an operator's
license.
