Kia overturns in U.S. 321 wreck
by Kellen Short
The wreck occurred around 12:45 p.m. as a flatbed tractor-trailer driven by 60-year-old James Hoyt Teeter was pulling onto U.S. 321 South after making a delivery at Mack Hampton Road, said Trooper Daniel Alexander of the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Teeter said he didn't see anyone coming and thought the road was clear, missing the white 2005 Kia Spectra in a blind spot, Alexander said.
The car collided with the right front wheel of the tractor-trailer, overturning and coming to rest on the shoulder.
Sarah Delcie Conner, 39, and her daughter, 14-year-old Falon Breedlove, were taken by ambulance to Watauga Medical Center, Alexander said. He said he believed both were treated and released Monday.
Teeter, who was driving for Bonsal American Inc. of Charlotte, was not injured, and the tractor-trailer incurred only minor damage, Alexander said. He was cited for failure to yield right-of way.
The collision caused major traffic backups and congestion in both directions.
