High wind advisory for early Thursday

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg, Va., has issued a wind advisory for Watauga County from 1 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Jan. 24.
"A reinforcing shot of very cold air will arrive behind an area of low pressure moving across the middle Atlantic, allowing gusty winds just after midnight," the NWS said. Sustained winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph are expected.
The NWS advises of a potential for downed trees and power lines and urges drivers of high-profile vehicles to exercise caution.
