Hagan supports Keystone pipeline approval

U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan (D-North Carolina) on Wednesday joined a group of bipartisan senators in sending a letter to encourage swift action from the president on the approval of the Keystone XL pipeline. Hagan released a statement after the governor of Nebraska approved an alternative route for the pipeline on Tuesday.
"Now that Nebraska has approved an alternative route, I encourage President Obama to quickly approve the Keystone XL Pipeline that will create thousands of American jobs while providing energy security for our country," Hagan said in the statement. "We must reduce our dependence on oil imported from unstable countries, and this pipeline should be part of a comprehensive effort that includes clean and renewable energy to make our nation more secure."
In November, Hagan joined a bipartisan group of senators in writing a letter to the president to remind him of the importance of swift action on Keystone XL.
