Gas line ruptured at post office worksite
by Kellen Moore
A gas line was ruptured Thursday morning at the downtown Boone Post Office, where renovations are ongoing.
Boone Fire Department was sent to the post office — right across the street from the department — around 9:45 a.m., but Capt. Mike Teague said the problem already had been solved.
The gas company was already at the worksite when the line was cut, allowing them to stop the leak quickly before starting on a full repair, he said.
Greene Construction began work on the historic structure in August and is planning for a March completion.
