Free smoke alarms available in Watauga
by Staff Reports
Residents can qualify for free alarms if they have none or one working smoke alarm in their home or if their smoke alarm is more than 10 years old and needs to be replaced, according to Angie Gryder Gregg, injury prevention specialist with the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
Watauga County Fire Marshal Steve Sudderth said 54 alarms are currently in stock, but more are available if needed. The alarms are provided through a grant obtained by the Watauga County Firefighters Association.
