Foxx will not enter U.S. Senate race

In a statement released Tuesday, Foxx said she would not seek the Republican nomination but has been humbled by the encouragement she has received to do so.
"But I already have the best job in North Carolina," Foxx said. "Representing the people of North Carolina's 5th Congressional District while working to encourage job growth, repeal ObamaCare and return decision-making power in education back to our state is where my heart and focus lie."
Foxx said she hoped the next North Carolina senator would increase freedom and reduce the size of Washington's footprint in daily life.
"That starts with electing a senator who is committed to undoing President Obama's job-crushing heath care overhaul and getting our outrageous national deficit under control," she said. "Our conservative candidate for Senate will have my utmost support."
House speaker Thom Tillis and Cary doctor Greg Brannon are among those seeking the Republican nomination to challenge Hagan, who is nearing the end of her first term.
