Forum on public education to be held
by Staff Reports
Public Schools First NC is an organization of residents, parents, teachers and others that advocates for public education in North Carolina. According to the group's website, the organization believes that funding should be adequate and equitable, tax dollars should not support charter schools or vouchers, teachers must be licensed and trained, overuse of testing is harmful, and that the state must increase preschool funding, among other beliefs. More information is available at publicschoolsfirstnc.org.
Page McCullough of Public Schools First NC is scheduled to speak.
Parents, residents, educators and other interested persons are invited to learn about the organization and join in support of its goals.
The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center at 252 Poplar Grove Road in Boone.
