Crimestoppers seeks tips on counterfeiting fraud

Crimestoppers is seeking information about two women who used counterfeit bills to make a purchase at a Boone department store.
On Aug. 16, two women bought a watch at Belk in the Boone Mall using three counterfeit $100 bills, according to police. One woman attempted to return the watch at a Belk store in Greensboro on Aug. 25 but was unsuccessful.
The woman was seen leaving the store in a blue SUV, possibly a Nissan Pathfinder.
Anyone with information on this crime or any other crime is asked to call Crimestoppers at (828) 268-6959 or the Boone Police Department at (828) 268-6900.
All information will be kept confidential, and Crimestoppers pays rewards for information that leads to arrests, recovery of stolen property, seizure of drugs or the location of wanted persons.
