County Manager receives five-year extension
by Allison Haver
Watauga County Manager Deron Geouque will continue to serve
Watauga County for another five years.
In June, Watauga County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a five-year contract extension for Geouque.
"The only changes from the previous contract
is the extension of the time and a $50 increase for the car allowance,"
Chairman Nathan Miller said.
According to the contract, Geouque will serve as county manager from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2019.
His annual pay will be $111,427, which
is a 2 percent increase of his previous salary Watauga County Human Resources
coordinator Monica Harrison said.
Harrison said the pay increase reflects the 2 percent cost of living adjustment that all county employees received for this year's fiscal year.
