Child airlifted after wreck in Vilas

A 7-month-old child was airlifted from
the scene of a Vilas car crash on Wednesday after the vehicle he was in
N.C. State Trooper Randall Townsend said the wreck occurred around 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday.
Darker Weah, 26, of Greensboro, passed several vehicles in a no-passing lane, in his 2000 Nissan Altima, while heading toward Boone.
Weah dropped a tire off of the left side of the road and over-corrected causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times, Townsend said.
The child was thrown from the car, where he had been in a child seat next to his mother, Patience Wornee
of Johnson City Tennessee.
Weah and Wornee were treated for minor injuries at the
scene while the 7-month old was airlifted to the Johnson City Medical Center.
Townsend said the child was in stable
Weah was charged with careless and reckless driving and a child seat violation.
Cove Creek Fire and First Responders, Watauga Medics and Watauga Rescue all converged on the scene along with Watauga Deputies, and the State Patrol.
