Several area businesses and offices will be closed Monday in honor of Labor Day.

In addition to most major banks, offices of the Town of Blowing Rock, Town of Boone and Watauga County will be closed.

Watauga County Commissioners also have cancelled their regularly scheduled meeting set for 8 a.m. Sept. 4.

The Watauga County Public Library will be closed Monday, as well as Watauga County Schools. The offices of the Watauga Democrat also will be closed.

AppalCART routes also will not run Monday, with the exception of the State Farm Route to ASU starting at 4 p.m. That shuttle will follow the typical Sunday schedule.

The Watauga County Sanitation Department and the convenience centers, however, will operate on a regular schedule Monday.
