Bridge at Boone Heights Drive to undergo work
by Staff Reports
The DOT awarded a $331,000 contract to NHM Constructors of Asheville to conduct the project, which will involve rehabilitating the two outside lanes with latex-modified concrete. The project is scheduled to be completed by July 19.
The three middle lanes were repaired last year. Those lanes were part of the original bridge that was built in 1947 and widened in the 1970s, according to the DOT.
Through traffic will be maintained at all times, but lanes will be shifted depending on which areas are undergoing work. Alternate routes are recommended.
Traffic heading north can turn right on Deerfield Road, left on State Farm Road and left on Shadowline Drive to get back to Blowing Rock Road. Southbound traffic can reverse directions.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
