by Staff Reports
Shannon Saville of Boone will appear Wednesday on the TV game show “Wheel of Fortune.”
An avid fan of “Wheel,” Saville has been watching the show her entire life and was thrilled to finally be a contestant, according to show producers. She tried out to be a contestant at the Wheelmobile event in Knoxville, Tenn.
Saville is currently a graduate student at Appalachian State University, working toward a master’s degree in social work. She was recently engaged to a fellow ASU student and plans to wed after graduation in 2014. She hopes to use her winnings to pay for a luxurious honeymoon, according to producers.
Show producers asked the Watauga
Democrat not to divulge the contestant’s winnings before the show’s airing.
Now in its 30th season in syndication, Wheel of Fortune continues to be America’s most popular game show. Created by Merv Griffin in 1975 for NBC daytime, Wheel of Fortune is based on the popular game “Hangman.”
Pat Sajak and Vanna White have hosted the show since its syndication debut in 1983.
