Boone police charge man in assault case

Boone police charged David Wayne Pennington, 48, of Boone, with
one count of assault by strangulation and one count of assault on a female, according to the Boone
Police Department on Friday.
Pennington is alleged to have committed the assaults during a domestic disturbance.
Pennington was arrested by the Boone Police Department and taken before a Watauga County magistrate, where he was placed under a domestic violence hold and assigned a court date of Dec. 18.
