Boone manager hire slated later this summer
by Anna Oakes
The Boone Town Council has scheduled several closed session meetings in the past couple of weeks as part of the interview process for a new town manager, Boone Mayor Andy Ball said.
The notices for the meetings held or scheduled for July 3, 9 and 10 indicate the council will enter into closed session "to consider the qualifications and conditions of employment of a prospective employee."
Ball said last week the town was at least a month away from hiring a replacement for retiring Town Manager Greg Young. He said Tuesday that the council is on track for a selection by the end of August. He declined to disclose the number of finalists currently being considered.
The application period for the position closed May 20, with 80 people applying for the position.
