Boone man charged with meth possession
Detectives from the Special Operations Division conducted a vehicle stop Jan. 9 and seized approximately 3 grams of methamphetamine from Baxter Smith James, 69, of 135 Long Street, according to the sheriff's office.
James was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of an open container/malt beverage.
The driver of the vehicle, Robin Van Shook, 59, of Foscoe, also was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of an open container/malt beverage and displaying a fictitious registration plate, according to the sheriff's office.
Both James and Shook were issued a $3,000 secured bond and are scheduled to appear in District Court on Feb. 26.
James is also facing charges from an earlier arrest in which detectives seized approximately 23 grams of methamphetamine during a search warrant Oct. 5, 2012. He was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a felon, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia in that case.
