The Watauga County Board of Elections unanimously approved its proposed budget on Wednesday. Now, it's up to county commissioners to review.

On Thursday, Watauga County Elections Director Jane Hodges was in the process of finalizing the budget, which requests $157,500 from the county for 2014-2015, and lists to-date expenditures total as $177,557.

Totals for the board's original budget, current budget, to-date expenditures and the requested budget were included in the report.

Original budget: $312,765
Current budget for 2013-2014: $312,765
To-date expenditures: $177,557
Requested budget for 2014-2015: $157,534

The county elections board also listed actual expenditure totals from 2009 to 2013.

2009-2010:     $266,589
2010-2011:     $296,006
2011-2012:     $268,291
2012-2013:     $334,920

The Watauga County Board of Commissioners will review the budget approved by the county elections board during one of its work sessions in May to prepare for the county's new year, which starts July 1.
