Blowing Rock police chief resigns
by Anna Oakes
Blowing Rock Police Chief Eric Brown has resigned his position due to personal reasons, Town Manager Scott Fogleman confirmed Monday.
Brown submitted his resignation Dec. 16 and worked through Jan. 1, electing to take vacation from Jan. 2 through his effective resignation date of Jan. 17, Fogleman said.
Brown was employed with the town beginning in February 1991 and became chief of the Police Department on Dec. 1, 2006.
Blowing Rock Police Capt. Aaron Miller is currently heading up day-to-day operations, Fogleman said.
The town is not yet seeking applications to replace Brown but hopes to post the position by the end of the month, he said. The department is continuing with its normal shift coverage, he said.
