Arrest made in ASU residence hall break-in

University police arrested Alec Christopher Schemmel, 20, a freshman from Mecklenburg County on the felony charge of breaking/entering and the misdemeanor charge of larceny for an incident at about 4 a.m. at a residence hall room in Appalachian Panhellenic Hall on Blowing Rock Road, Boone.
Police said they recovered $640 worth of property taken from the room.
Schemmel's first appearance is March 4; a court date is set for April 30. His bond was set at $10,000 by the Watauga County Magistrate's Office. The arrest came about as the result of anonymous tips, police said.
