Boone Police arrested a Ferguson man Saturday after a fight in which he allegedly bit another man's ear.
Steven Alan Hamby, 29, of 131 Phillips Road, Ferguson, was charged with felony maiming without malice after a fight Sept. 28 in a parking lot in the 1800 block of Old U.S. 421 in Boone.
According to police reports, Hamby and another man were fighting when Hamby bit the 28-year-old's ear. The incident caused "minor" injury, the report states.
Hamby was issued a $75,000 unsecured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 31.
This is at least the second time this year a person has been charged with ear-biting in Boone.
In May, Boone police arrested a 22-year-old man after he bit off a portion of a man's ear on Howard Street in Boone, sending the victim to Watauga Medical Center. The victim in that case had attempted to intervene in a verbal fight between a couple, police said.
