by Staff Reports
Former Watauga County Schools teacher Amy Tilley Bower made her first appearance in court Tuesday, three weeks after she was charged with having a sexual relationship with two students.
Attorney David Freedman of Winston-Salem represented Bower, seeking a motion to continue the case. The motion was granted, and Bower's next court date is Nov. 12, court records state.
Bower, 45, of Vilas, was charged Aug. 28 with two counts of sexual activity with a student and two counts of indecent liberties with a child. The Watauga County Sheriff's Office said the incidents allegedly occurred between 1998 to 2000 and 2004 to 2006.
She most recently worked as a fifth-grade teacher at Cove Creek School.
