23 apply for county's superintendent post

received 23 applications for the superintendent position, which were due on Jan. 17.
"The next step as a board is to review all of
the applications," said Delora Hodges, vice chairwoman of the Watauga County Board of Education.
According to Hodges, the board members
will review and evaluate each application individually before coming together to discuss as a
Hodges believes the board will meet in closed session during the Feb. 10 meeting to begin discussing the prospects.
The board did not have a set goal for the number of applicants, but Hodges said she believed that 23 was a good number and is anxious to start moving forward.
"I feel good about the process," Hodges said. "I think we have done a good job up to this point and have done everything to the best of our ability."
