I want to thank to the Beaver Dam and Cove Creek volunteer fire departments that recently extinguished a chimney fire at our Bethel home. We were very impressed with the speed and professionalism of the Beaver Dam VFD personnel, who were the primary emergency responders. Floyd Hicks, who acted as supervisor, and every firefighter I encountered, from both departments, were both respectful and professional. They quickly put out the fire and, in so doing, mitigated the damage to the structure itself. Afterward, some of the firefighters even mopped our home's floors to limit water damage and clean up mud in the house.
It is very easy to forget the service these men and women perform in our communities -- that is, until you need their help. In Watauga County, we are truly lucky to have such well-trained and considerate volunteer fire departments. The Beaver Dam VDF and all emergency personal who responded to our fire have our most heartfelt thanks.
