Season of giving thanks

On behalf of the Watauga County Public Library, I would like thank all those generous people in our community who supplied clothing to the annual “Giving Tree” this winter season. Each year, Watauga County Public Library sets up a tree inside the library building, with a sign asking that it be decorated with articles of clothing to be shared with people in the area who are in need of warm clothes for the wintry months. This year, as always, the Giving Tree was laden with all kinds of fine donations: gloves, hats, scarves and more.Donations were collected in December and into January, and several “tree-loads” of gifts were distributed to Santa's Toy Box, the Salvation Army, OASIS (Opposing Abuse with Services, Information and Shelter) and individuals in need of warm clothing, who were welcome to take from the tree in a “take what you need, give what you have (and don't need)” arrangement.Thank you, again, to the kind and giving people in our area, who always show their giving spirit in the yearly Giving Tree collection.Evelyn Johnson, reference and adult services librarian, Watauga County Public Library
