Job creation in the works

Most agree that if the millions of Americans who are now unemployed had jobs, the bickering between political and social factions — and the recession itself — would quickly end.

What you don't hear is that the U.S. House of Representatives already passed the following 28 bipartisan, job-creating bills in 2011 that are currently being held up in the Senate by its Democratic leadership and President Barack Obama:

(1) H.R. 3630 Middle Class Tax Relief & Jobs Act, (2) H.R. 1633 Farm Dust Reg. Prevention Act, (3) H.R. 10 Regulations from Executive In Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, (4) H.R. 3010 Reg. Accountability Act, (5) H.R. 527 Reg. Flexibility Improvements Act, (6) H.R. 3012 Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act, (7) H.R. 3094 Workforce Democracy & Fairness Act, (8) H.R. 2930 Entrepreneur Access to Capital Act, (9) H.R. 2940 Access to Capital for Job Creation Act, (10) H.R. 1965 (written by James Hines, D-Conn.) part of a package intended to improve small businesses' access to capital, (11) H.R. 1070 Small Company Capital Formation Act, (12) H.R. 1904 Southwest Arizona Land Exchange & Conservation Act, (13) H.R. 2273 Coal Residuals Reuse & Management Act, (14) H.R. 2681 Cement Sector Reg. Resolution 37 Disapproving the rule submitted by Federal Communications Commission with regard to regulating and (28) H. Con. Resolution 34 Establishing the budget for the United States Government for fiscal 2012.

Once again, it's up to the voters to put pressure on our elected officials to move ahead. Write our U.S. Senators, Richard Burr, R-NC, and Kay Hagan, D-NC, to demand they get these bills out of committee and passed as soon as possible.Donald Bolster, Sugar Grove
