Our View: To roll merrily along, survey needs input

Thumbs-up: to the Watauga High School 2013 graduating class. Four years of hard work and preparation for the next step -- career or college -- have preceded Graduation Day. Join the graduates at 9 a.m. Saturday. Ceremonies take place at the Holmes Convocation Center at Appalachian State University.

Thumbs-up: to High Country pet finders -- a team consisting of ASU associate professor Trina Seitz and a former student, Annie Hegar, who took it upon themselves to travel to Oklahoma and assist a local animal shelter after tornadoes devastated the area. The pair also brought more than 1,000 pounds of pet supplies. A well-done for putting charity into action. A second well-done for those businesses and individuals who gave donations to the effort.

Thumbs-up: for the opportunity to voice your opinion. A steering committee is asking for members of the public to give input on a bicycle transportation plan for the town of Boone. Bicycling is a top sport in the High Country, and almost everyone in town has an opinion about it. The chance to make your opinion heard is at http://www.boonebikeplan.com or by visiting a public engagement event June 15 during the Watauga County Farmers' Market on Horn in the West Drive.
