Our View: Serving of support
An idea to meet the unmet needs of the High Country's hungry has been simmering since 2009. On Saturday, F.A.R.M. Cafe moves to full boil with a grand opening at its West King Street location — a celebration and milestone in which we all have ownership.
F.A.R.M. Cafe exists because our community exists: The only way to Feed All Regardless of Means is through a partnership of sharing what we have with those who have less.
Whether through a donation of time, services, goods, food or simply by having lunch at the restaurant and contributing what you can, we make F.A.R.M. Cafe a reality every day. And for many people in our community, that reality means a meal that wouldn't otherwise exist.
During the past two months, the cafe's soft opening indicates a sustainable model that has worked in other cities, and can continue to work here with our support.
Saturday, you can make that support tangible by visiting the cafe from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and joining in the festivities. Live music, good food and an opportunity to make a difference are on the menu.
