Our View: Eight families to go, we're close to the finish

As one of only nine teachers — out of 97,000 — across the state to receive the honor, Grimes is in rare company. A side note: Grimes is also a product of Appalachian State University, a further indication of the top caliber of educators graduating from that institution.

But with work scheduled to begin Jan. 2 and to involve more than three years of traffic delays and odd patterns, it's a bit premature to lay out the welcome mat.
